A Staff Engineer (SE) can easily turn ideas into a stable and scalable software solution. But, they prefer to work with a team to achieve that end. The SE has a knack for architecture and best practices and uses that knowledge to help the software engineering team to deliver on time. The SE knows that Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should. And more than that, the SE knows how to communicate that understanding to the Product and Engineering Managers on the team. The SE helps evaluate new ideas as part of the Shape Up methodology to determine technical feasibility and identifies rabbit holes and associated risks that a feature can not be delivered in a set period of time.

Job Summary:

As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the platform. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience, be an expert in Node.js and Typescript, and have experience with Vue.js or similar, SQL, NoSQL, microservices, cloud, and Shape Up. The Staff Engineer will work closely with the product, design, and engineering teammates to ensure that the platform is efficient, reliable, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain our platform using Node.js and Typescript

• Collaborate with the product and design stakeholders to shape new features

• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that our platform is efficient, reliable, and scalable

• Write high-quality, clean, and maintainable code

• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers

• Ensure that our platform is secure and meets industry standards

• Continuously improve our platform by staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices

Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of overall experience in software development

• Expertise in Node.js and Typescript

• Experience with Vue.js or similar, SQL, NoSQL, microservices, cloud, and Shape Up

• Experience with agile development methodologies

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment

• A passion for technology and a desire to learn new things
