Description of the Opportunity

Our client is building a modern SaaS platform that helps professionals collaborate, manage complex workflows, and streamline business operations through a connected digital ecosystem. As the platform continues to scale, they are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to ensure the reliability, quality, and performance of their web applications and backend services. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping quality processes within a fast-growing, engineering-driven organization.

Responsibilities

Drive Quality Across the Platform

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for web applications and backend services using Playwright, Jest, and Postman.
  • Develop test plans and comprehensive end-to-end, integration, and API test suites for modern React/Next.js frontends and Node.js/Express backend services.
  • Collaborate with engineers during planning to define acceptance criteria, identify edge cases, and mitigate technical risks.
  • Own regression testing to ensure high-quality releases.

Enable Fast and Reliable Releases

  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery without compromising quality.
  • Help define and track QA metrics that improve release confidence.
  • Build tools and processes that enhance testability, automation, and system observability.

Ensure Reliability and Resilience

  • Validate error handling, retry mechanisms, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven architectures.
  • Test job queues, API endpoints, and third-party integrations through automated API testing.
  • Verify complex data synchronization scenarios, database operations, and eventual consistency across distributed systems.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and designers to prioritize quality based on user impact.
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Promote a culture of quality by improving documentation, sharing best practices, and encouraging testable software design.

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of professional QA experience testing modern web applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end browser automation, including framework design, test maintenance, flaky test mitigation, and CI integration.
  • Solid experience with Jest for unit and integration testing in JavaScript/TypeScript environments.
  • Proficiency with Postman and Newman for automated API testing, including collection design, scripting, and environment management.
  • Experience testing React/Next.js frontends and Node.js/Express APIs.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB and testing complex data models and queries.
  • Experience validating asynchronous processing, background jobs, and distributed systems.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and software delivery best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Sentry, Datadog, or similar tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Startup experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience in highly regulated or compliance-driven industries.
  • Familiarity with API contract testing tools such as Pact.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools such as k6 or Artillery.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, Docker, and containerized testing environments.
  • Experience with security, privacy, or compliance testing.

Who You Are

  • Detail-oriented and passionate about identifying edge cases before users encounter them.
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable defining and improving QA processes.
  • User-focused, with a strong commitment to reliability, usability, and performance.
  • Calm and organized in fast-paced environments, capable of maintaining quality during rapid release cycles.
