Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

A fast-growing, venture-backed consumer marketplace in the home-services space is transforming a traditionally fragmented industry into a seamless, customer-first digital experience. Having already achieved strong product-market fit, the company is now focused on scaling operations and building technology that improves the end-to-end customer journey.

The engineering organization is lean, highly collaborative, and deeply product-oriented. Mobile development has historically been handled by full-stack engineers, but the company is now investing in its first dedicated mobile engineering hire to lead the development of a new consumer-facing mobile application from the ground up.

This is a highly autonomous individual contributor role with significant ownership and visibility. Leadership is aligned around mobile as a strategic priority, product designs are already complete, and the platform infrastructure is in place. The objective is clear: build and launch a mobile experience that fundamentally improves how consumers interact with service providers.

Technical Challenge

Unlike many senior mobile positions focused on maintaining mature applications, this opportunity centers on building a greenfield mobile product from scratch within a funded, post-product-market-fit company.

The core customer problem is operational visibility. Once users book a service, communication and status tracking are often fragmented or opaque. The company is building a mobile platform that provides real-time transparency throughout the customer journey, including service progress, logistics coordination, provider communication, and live status updates.

Responsibilities

Mobile Architecture & Foundations

Lead the setup of the React Native architecture, including project structure, navigation patterns, state management, reusable UI components, and mobile tooling. The architecture will support multiple mobile applications across the marketplace ecosystem.

Greenfield Mobile Product Development

Build the initial consumer mobile application, including booking flows, service tracking, status updates, location-aware features, communication workflows, ratings/reviews, and discovery experiences. Translate operational complexity into intuitive, performant user experiences.

Backend & Platform Integration

Collaborate closely with platform engineers to integrate with backend services via GraphQL and REST APIs. Help define scalable API contracts and integration patterns that maintain consistency and reliability across systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with engineering leadership, product, and data stakeholders to scope features, prioritize initiatives, and make pragmatic technical trade-offs in a fast-paced environment.

Quality, CI/CD & Release Processes

Establish testing standards, deployment pipelines, release management workflows, and App Store / Play Store delivery processes while maintaining strong development velocity.

AI-Augmented Engineering

Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, Codex, or similar technologies to accelerate delivery while applying strong engineering judgment to validate and refine generated code.

Ideal Candidate

Required Experience

• 6+ years of mobile engineering experience with strong expertise in React Native and modern TypeScript
• Proven experience building and launching greenfield mobile applications from concept to production
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, navigation, state management, offline capabilities, app lifecycle management, and performance optimization
• Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tooling to improve engineering productivity while maintaining high code quality standards
• Ability to operate independently in fast-paced startup or high-growth environments
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience within logistics, marketplace, home-services, or operationally complex consumer platforms
• Background building real-time or location-aware consumer applications
• Familiarity with technologies such as NestJS, GraphQL, MongoDB, or similar ecosystems
• Experience implementing mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated release workflows
• Exposure to high-growth startups or scaling engineering organizations
• Experience supporting both customer-facing and provider-facing application experiences
