About the role

We’re working with an edge-native data stack company building an open-source, peer-to-peer document database designed for modern distributed systems. The product’s core systems are being built in Rust, and it focuses on enabling highly scalable, resilient data infrastructure at the edge.

We’re looking for a Database Engineer to help design and evolve the core systems powering the database engine.

What you’ll work on

You’ll be deeply involved in the foundational layers of the database, including:

  • Query planner design and optimization
  • Storage engine development
  • CRDT-based replication systems
  • Indexing strategies and performance improvements
  • Core database internals in a distributed environment

What we’re looking for

  • 3–5+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering
  • Strong experience with Rust and Go, with expectation of working primarily in Rust
  • Solid understanding of database internals (e.g. storage engines, query execution, indexing, or distributed data systems)
  • Experience building or working on high-performance, low-level systems

Nice to have

  • Experience with distributed systems or peer-to-peer architectures
  • Familiarity with CRDTs or eventual consistency models
  • Contributions to open-source database or systems projects

Why join

  • Work on a next-generation, open-source database built for the edge
  • High-impact role with deep technical ownership
  • Competitive compensation + equity upside
  • Fully remote within Canada

Includes 2 screening questions.
