About us

  • Our hiring partner is a YC-backed, fast-growing fintech startup building an all-in-one banking and payment automation platform for construction businesses.
  • Construction companies can manage bill payments, receivables, and corporate cards in one place — saving time on manual data entry by integrating with existing tools and automating the full billing cycle.

Visa / work authorization

  • This role is remote in Canada, or in-person in San Francisco.
  • If remote in Canada, you must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • If relocating to San Francisco, the company can sponsor a TN Visa for Canadian citizens.

About the role

  • This isn't a role where you'll be maintaining legacy systems or sitting through three layers of approval to ship a feature. You'll be writing code that moves money, working directly with the founders, and shipping to production fast.
  • The stack is React.js on the front, Python Django on the back, and Postgres under the hood. The team builds inside Cursor, manages work in Linear, and uses AI tooling as a core part of how software is written and shipped.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and ship full-stack features across the payments platform — from the React UI to the Django services that process transactions
  • Own entire features end-to-end: scoping, building, testing, deploying, and iterating based on real user feedback
  • Work with payment processors, banking APIs, and financial data providers — the integrations that make a payments company a payments company
  • Use Cursor and AI-assisted workflows daily to move faster and write better code
  • Manage work in Linear, collaborate async, and ship with a small team where your contributions are immediately visible
  • Make technical decisions that matter — architecture choices today will define the platform for years

Qualifications

  • 3+ years building production web applications — you've shipped real products, not just side projects
  • Deep experience with React.js — hooks, state management, component architecture, performance optimization
  • Deep experience with Python and Django — ORM, REST framework, migrations, background tasks
  • Strong with PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, migrations at scale
  • Hands-on experience with Cursor as your development environment
  • Actively using AI tools in your development workflow — not just curious, actually shipping with them
  • Serious background in real-time strategy games (Warcraft 3, StarCraft, StarCraft 2, Age of Empires, or similar) — the company values the strategic thinking, resource management, multitasking under pressure, and rapid decision-making that competitive RTS players develop
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or banking tech
  • Experience building AI agent workflows, working with LLM APIs, or prompt engineering
  • Experience with PCI-DSS compliance or secure payment processing
  • Startup experience — thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments

What we offer

  • Competitive salary ($150K–$250K CAD) and equity (0.50%–1.50%) — you're joining early
  • Remote/hybrid flexibility (Canada-based, or in-person in San Francisco)
  • Professional development budget and conference attendance
  • A small, sharp team with real ownership and zero bureaucracy

Interview process

  • 15-minute phone call with a founder
  • 1-hour technical video interview
  • If hired, first 2 weeks onsite with the founder

Includes 1 screening question.
