The Role

Our hiring partner is hiring a Staff Fullstack Software Developer in Calgary. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape system architecture, lead technically, and help build a cutting-edge fintech platform used by millions of Canadians.

You’ll work with a modern stack (TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, AWS, serverless) and leverage AI tools to accelerate development and innovation.

What You’ll Do

Drive Technical Excellence

• Set quality standards and best practices across teams.
• Lead system design and technical planning.
• Review and propose new technologies and architectures.

Build & Scale Systems

• Design and deliver scalable, reliable backend systems and services.
• Solve complex technical challenges and anticipate risks.
• Drive best practices across coding, testing, and deployment.

Lead & Mentor

• Lead by example through hands-on development.
• Mentor developers via coaching and pair programming.
• Elevate team capability and technical depth.

Innovate

• Stay current with industry trends and bring new ideas forward.
• Contribute to strategic technical direction and long-term architecture.

What We’re Looking For

• 9+ years of experience building complex, scalable web applications end-to-end.
• Strong backend expertise (APIs, data, distributed systems, security, reliability).
• Deep understanding of system design concepts (e.g., coupling/cohesion, idempotency, async workflows, event-driven systems).
• Proven experience with technical planning and cross-team collaboration.
• Strong programming fundamentals with mastery in one or more languages.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, and serverless architectures.
• Experience with multiple data stores (SQL and NoSQL preferred).
• Experience working on large, multi-team systems.
• Based in—or open to relocating to—Calgary, AB.
