About the Role

We’re hiring a hands-on Tech Lead to own the architecture and execution of a MERN-based, serverless platform with deep usage of AWS Lambda. You’ll lead technical decisions, write production code, and help the team scale a system designed for speed, reliability, and cost efficiency.

This role is ideal for someone who loves clean architecture, event-driven systems, and building scalable products without over-engineering.

What You’ll Do

• Own the technical architecture of a MERN + serverless platform
• Lead system design decisions around AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven workflows
• Write high-quality, production-ready code (40–60% hands-on)
• Design and evolve backend services using Node.js, Lambda, and AWS managed services
• Guide frontend architecture in React (performance, state management, scalability)
• Define and enforce best practices for:
  Serverless patterns
  API design
  Error handling & observability
  Security & IAM
• Lead code reviews, architectural reviews, and technical mentorship
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to turn requirements into scalable solutions
• Identify performance bottlenecks, cold start issues, and cost inefficiencies
• Reduce technical debt while keeping delivery velocity high

Tech Stack

• Frontend: React, JavaScript / TypeScript
• Backend: Node.js, AWS Lambda
• Database: MongoDB (Atlas preferred)
• Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB/S3 optional, CloudWatch)
• Infra: Serverless Framework, SAM, or Terraform
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions, AWS-native pipelines
• Auth: Cognito, Auth0, or custom JWT-based solutions

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 2+ years leading technical architecture or acting as Tech Lead
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS Lambda in production
• Strong Node.js expertise in serverless environments
• Solid React experience (component architecture, performance optimization)
• Strong understanding of:
  Event-driven and serverless architectures
  REST and/or GraphQL APIs
  Cloud security & IAM
  Monitoring, logging, and debugging distributed systems
• Ability to lead through technical clarity and execution, not hierarchy
• Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs and decisions

Nice to Have

• TypeScript-first mindset
• Experience with DynamoDB or event buses (SNS/SQS/EventBridge)
• Prior experience scaling serverless systems under real load
• Cost optimization experience in AWS
• Experience interviewing and hiring senior engineers
• Startup or high-growth scale-up experience
