About OpenSport (PlayWize Technology Inc.)

OpenSport is an AI-native company building AI for Human Performance.

The company is creating the intelligence layer that helps athletes, teams, and performance organizations turn complex data into trusted, real-time decisions. Professional sport is its proving ground — one of the most data-dense, high-pressure environments in the world — where accuracy, context, and trust are non-negotiable.

Unlike traditional analytics platforms, OpenSport is built AI-first. AI is embedded across its products and internal operations: from AI agents that generate performance insights, to automated workflows, evaluation pipelines, and decision support tools used daily by the team.

OpenSport works with professional football and rugby organizations and is expanding toward broader human performance use cases across health, wellness, and workforce performance.

The company operates with high transparency, open communication, and a strong bias toward ownership. If you enjoy autonomy, clear accountability, and building things that actually ship, you’ll feel at home here.

The Role

OpenSport is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer to own the strategy, design, and evolution of its AI models and agent architecture — both customer-facing and internal.

This is not a research-only role. You will work directly on production systems that interact with real athlete data, coaches, and operational decision-making. You will play a key role in shaping how AI is architected, evaluated, and scaled across the platform.

Role Focus

  • Own the strategy, design, and evolution of AI models and agent architecture
  • Define how AI agents are orchestrated, evaluated, and integrated across products
  • Establish AI technical standards and best practices across the organization
  • Build AI systems that are explainable, scalable, and trusted in high-stakes environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, refactor, and improve existing (V1) AI models and agents
  • Define and govern AI architecture, agent orchestration, and system design
  • Implement best practices across:
    Model usage and selection
    Prompting strategies
    Evaluation, validation, and monitoring
    Performance and cost optimization
  • Ensure AI agents are efficient, scalable, and well integrated into the broader platform
  • Lead the design and implementation of new AI agents and enhancements
  • Oversee AI integrations into the OpenSport marketplace and core product
  • Conduct AI-focused code reviews and guide overall AI technical direction
  • Collaborate closely with data science, backend, and frontend teams to ship production-ready AI features

Core Technical Competencies

  • Strong experience designing and refactoring AI systems in production
  • Advanced experience with Node.js and Python in AI-driven applications
  • Experience with SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Cosmos DB
  • Experience building APIs and services that integrate AI agents into products
  • Frontend awareness using Angular or React for AI-powered features
  • Microsoft Azure experience (required)
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience is a plus

Sports & Startup Context

  • Strong interest or background in sports, performance, or athlete technology
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving AI startup environment
  • Motivated by building AI products that impact real athletes, teams, and coaches
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable owning problems end-to-end
  • Thrives in a transparent, collaborative environment with open communication

Contract Details

  • Employment Type: T4 contract
  • Term: 7 months
  • Extension: Strong intent to convert to full-time for the right candidate
  • Start: March 1st, 2026
  • Salary Range: $10–12k/monthly

Why Join OpenSport

  • Build AI systems where accuracy and trust truly matter
  • Work directly with professional sports organizations
  • Influence AI architecture decisions from the ground up
  • Operate with real ownership, autonomy, and visibility
  • Be part of a team building the future of AI for Human Performance
