About the Company

Our hiring partner is a fast-growing proptech company operating across Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and New York, focused on luxury rental properties and end-to-end property management.

The company is building a modern, scalable platform that connects tenants, property managers, listings, and transactions into a unified system designed to support continued growth across North America and beyond.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for a highly experienced Lead Full-Stack Engineer who wants to take on meaningful technical ownership and play a key role in the evolution of a growing platform.

You will work closely with the CTO as a trusted technical partner, contributing to architectural decisions, solving complex engineering challenges, and helping the team build scalable, maintainable systems.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, thinks beyond individual features, and wants to have a meaningful impact on both the product and the engineering team.

What You Will Do

You will work across the full stack and across the system — from product features to platform-level improvements.

  • Design and build scalable full-stack applications using React, Next.js, and backend technologies such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Own complex engineering initiatives from technical planning through implementation, testing, and long-term maintenance.
  • Analyze how different systems interact and understand the broader impact of technical decisions.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions focused on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO on technical direction and engineering priorities.
  • Help establish engineering best practices, development standards, and technical patterns.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to other engineers on the team.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous technical challenges and help drive solutions forward.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a strong Lead Full-Stack Engineer with excellent technical fundamentals, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with React, Next.js, and at least one backend stack such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Experience designing scalable applications and working with complex systems.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems, evaluate different approaches, and make thoughtful technical decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical guidance within a team.

We are especially interested in people who:

  • Prefer ownership and autonomy over detailed direction.
  • Think about the broader product and system impact of their work.
  • Enjoy solving challenging technical problems.
  • Are adaptable and comfortable learning new technologies.
  • Want to grow with a company and contribute to building something meaningful.

Equity & Growth Opportunity

This role includes meaningful participation in the company's Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP), providing the opportunity to share in the company's long-term success.

You will have the opportunity to grow alongside the company, take on increasing technical responsibility, and play an important role in shaping the future of the engineering organization.

Location Requirement

  • Must be based in Canada.
  • Candidates outside Vancouver must be willing to relocate to Vancouver.
  • Compensation
  • Competitive base salary depending on experience.
  • Meaningful ESOP participation.
  • Long-term growth opportunities as the company continues to scale.

Timing

The team is looking for someone who can join as soon as possible, though they are open to discussing timing with the right candidate.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to join a growing proptech company at an important stage of its development.

You will:

  • Work directly with the CTO as a trusted technical partner.
  • Own meaningful engineering challenges that directly impact the product.
  • Influence architectural decisions and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with a small, talented team where your contributions will have significant visibility.
  • Help build and scale a platform with ambitions for broader market expansion.
  • Grow into broader technical leadership opportunities as the company evolves.
