About the Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Senior Python Back End Engineer to help build and scale a suite of cloud native, serverless backend services. This role focuses on designing and maintaining high quality APIs in AWS, without relying on frameworks such as Django or Flask. You will work directly with modern serverless tooling, build microservices that power real production workloads, and help define engineering standards across the team.

You will work closely with product, DevOps, security, and frontend teams to deliver robust and scalable systems that meet high performance expectations. The role suits someone who enjoys deep technical work, clear ownership, and delivering production ready solutions in a fast moving environment. You will also influence architecture, deployment practices, and the broader engineering culture as our client continues to scale.

Years of Experience Required: 

• 5+ years as a software engineer
• 3+ years building backend services/APIs in production

Required Language:  English (Advanced)

Key Tools: Serverless | Python | AWS | DynamoDB | AWS Lambda | API Development

Required Technical Ability

• Strong Python engineering skills with clean, modular architecture
• Proven experience building production APIs without Django or Flask
• Deep experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS or Aurora, and CloudWatch
• Ability to design RESTful and event driven APIs, including request and response models, routing, handlers, middleware, and error handling
• Skilled in SQL and NoSQL data modelling, indexing, and performance optimisation
• Experience deploying backend services with serverless tooling
• Solid understanding of asynchronous messaging patterns using SQS or SNS
• Ability to write testable code, use proven design patterns, and build production ready systems
• Comfortable contributing to CI and CD pipelines and maintaining high engineering standards

Highly Desired Experience

• Hands on experience with the Serverless Framework
• Familiarity with event driven architectures using SQS and SNS
• Exposure to GraphQL through AWS AppSync
• Experience in high traffic or highly scalable environments
• Background in entertainment, music, or live events
