The Role
They are expanding their team to accelerate the delivery of impactful features to customers. This fully remote position requires work-hour overlap with team members between 8 AM and 5 PM ET, with some flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, Postgresql, AWS, Docker, and Terraform
• Actively engage with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, document solutions, and ensure satisfaction with delivered functionality
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver new features
• Engage with stakeholders and customers to document technical specifications and solutions
• Provide mentorship to team members and contribute to a culture of growth
• Investigate, debug, and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
• Optimize the system for performance, reliability, and scalability
• Contribute to code quality by writing clean, testable code and identifying areas for improvement

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend development
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java and AWS services
• Solid experience in API design, object-oriented programming, and data modeling
• Proficiency with version control (e.g., Git), containerization (Docker), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and automated testing
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients and translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language

Nice to Have

• Experience building customer-facing products (B2B/B2C)
• Familiarity with geospatial data or analytics
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
• Background working with PostgreSQL and AWS
